Weight loss occurs since most of the calories and nutrients are routed into the colon where they are not absorbed. This procedure is less frequently used than other types of surgery because of the high risk for nutritional deficiencies. Weight loss greater than prescribed weight loss is unhealthy. Individuals requiring minimal weight loss (like 5 – 10 lbs.) should not attempt to lose more than .5 to 1 lb. Weight loss is simple, burn more calories then you consume. If you can fully understand that then you are on your way to losing weight.

Weight loss market grows every year, and if you are ill-informed about weight loss products , you can lose your money fast. Losing weight fast means primarily taking high-quality pills that work and not just claim its magic features. Weight loss simply does not address the long term reasons why we gain weight. Weight loss only erases the evidence of persistent issues to weight control such as aging, processed food, metabolism damage, eating behavior and the fact we all spend long periods of time ‘out of it’ with respect to weight loss and fitness. Weight loss surgery patients must be referred for obesity surgery directly to the Mass General Weight Center by their primary care physician. The initial Weight Center evaluation is a comprehensive evaluation by a nutritionist, psychologist and internist.
