Getting the Best Quality Copper Kitchen Sinks
Copper kitchen sinks are becoming a very popular choice for homeowners who want something a little rustic and unique to accentuate the overall décor. And there is good reason for it. Copper sinks may look rustic but they also lend a sense of sophistication and durability to the kitchen. Add to that the antimicrobial characteristics of the metal, and there are lots of reasons to go in for this unique fixture. But the question is, how do you know your sink is quality made and won’t fall apart on you at the earliest opportunity?

Kitchen copper sinks are beautiful additions to the home but in order to maintain them you need to know how to look after them properly to ensure that you do not cause any damage. Proper care and attention will ensure the long life of your kitchen sink.
* Do not use chemicals
* Use soap and water
* Wax your copper sink
* Polish
First of all, you need to make sure the construction is well done. If there are any welds on the sink you should make sure they are welded with copper, otherwise the seams may change color over time. Maybe not the biggest concern, but something to keep in mind. Also, you’ll want to make absolutely sure it is built to your size specifications. If you are ordering on line, make sure they have a good return policy. The last thing you want is to get stuck with a sink that won’t fit your designated area properly.
Another concern with less expensive copper sinks is the thickness of the copper being used. Obviously the less copper used to make the sink, the less expensive it will be. However, thin copper will have a greater likelihood of denting with normal use. Also, when water hits the bowl, thinner copper sinks tend to give off a ‘tinny’ sound. To counter this, some manufacturers add an insulating layer to the underside of their sinks. You should demand a sink with at least 16 gauge copper, or better yet, 14 gauge (the lower the number the thicker the metal).
