Cat6-network cable

February 16th, 2008

Networking concept is widely used in various fields and technologies. Network is an arrangement of intersection horizontal and vertical lines like a structure of a net. A group of points are integrated for various reasons. This concept has been implemented in all technologies. The technologies such as computer systems, telecommunication, mobile cell, information, television, radio, internet, intranet, extranet are advanced because they adopted integration.

CAT6 = If you plan on running at 1000 Mbps (1 Gbps) or more. Cat6 is better if you are in areas that have lots of interference like near power lines, lights, manufacturing equipment, or a long distance 1000 Mbps (Gigabit) run.

Today’s new homes are much more technologically advanced than in the past. One of the biggest advances lately is the use of “structured wiring” in homes. Structured wiring consists of installing a bundled wire package that typically contains two RG6 and two Cat5e or Cat6 cables. The cables are bundled together into one larger plastic sheath to make it much easier to install as one unit. Some of the new structured wire bundles even include fiber optic cables as well.

Motion Sensor Lights

February 16th, 2008

Have you seen outdoor lights that only come on when they detect movement? These special fixtures are called motion sensor lights and they offer many advantages to a homeowner.

Motion sensor lights are energy efficient. If typical outdoor fixtures are left on all night every night, you will notice a difference in your electric bill. With motion sensor outdoor lighting, however, there is only a small or even unnoticeable increase in your electricity bill because the light fixture is mostly off. So, not only do you get added security, you also get cost savings!

Motion detector lights can be decorative as well as functional. Many of the first fixtures were not very decorative, but now there are many different styles, sizes, and colors available that are designed to compliment different homes. For most of the fixtures, there is no way to tell if they are “regular” or sensor.

Using HDMI Switch to Expand HD Theater System

December 8th, 2007

HDMI switches will continue to be the de-facto standard in home video transmission for 2 reasons:
1) uncompressed digital format ensures the best picture quality and
2) HDMI allows content providers to ensure that their intellectual property is protected through HDCP.

It is clear that more equipment such as Cable/Satellite Set Top boxes, DVD players, HD DVD players, Personal video recorders, video game stations, and computer video cards will adopt HDMI/DVI. However, many early-generation HDTV monitors only had 1 or 2 HDMI input leaving the early adopter no way to easily add HDMI enabled sources. Furthermore many Surround Sound Audio Receivers do not include HDMI switching.

End users can solve this problem by using external HDMI switchers. HDMI switchers allow end users to add HDMI sources and at the same time upgrade their existing Surround Sound Audio Receiver with HDMI switching capabilities. This allows the end user to fully experience the benefits of HDMI. 3×1 HDMI switch allows the user to connect up to 3 HDMI sources and share it with 1 HD monitor or projector. The 5×1 HDMI switch are for “power users” who intend to add in more sources in the future. 3×1 and 5×1 HDMI solutions ensure that the end user always has adequate number of ports for future expansions.
